The mercury gun is far from the most bizarre weapon developed in the Commonwealth, but it is certainly no less deadly than a regular firearm. A full and precise description of the operating principle remains classified, but its basics are known to many armies. The design of the gun remotely resembles a flamethrower, but greatly overcomplicated. Instead of a flame mixture, the device throws mercury, which is targeted at the moment of the shot by a built-in magic transformer. Magic irradiation briefly gives mercury anomalous properties: the highest super-strength, lightness (somehow losing more than 95% of its mass), and ferromagnetism. Mercury pushed by compressed air is further accelerated by built-in magnetic coils located under the barrel and above , thereby turning the mercury into a solid dart. The new properties last literally 2 or 3 seconds, after which the projectile gradually returns to the properties of ordinary mercury and spreads out like initial liquid metal.
Mercury guns are used by the Commonwealth as light armor-piercing weapons, capable of easily penetrating light armor and leaving heavy wounds in flesh. They are versatile, but not long-range weapons, which significantly limits their use and development.

Ртутное ружьё далеко не самое причудливое оружие, разработанное в Содружестве, но точно не менее смертоносное чем обычное огнестрельное.
Полное и точное описание принципа действия остаётся засекреченным, но его основы известны многим армиям. Конструкция ружья отдалённого напоминает огнемёт, но сильно переусложнённый. Вместо огнесмеси, аппарат метает ртуть, которая ещё в момент выстрела направленно облучается встроенным маг-трансформатором. Магическое облучение кратковременно придаёт ртути аномальные свойства: высочайшую сверхпрочность, лёгкость (каким-то образом лишаясь более 95% своей массы), а также ферромагнитность. Подаваемая сжатым воздухом ртуть дальше разгоняется встроенными магнитными катушками, расположенными над стволом и снизу, тем самым ртуть превращается в твёрдый дротик. масса Новые свойства держатся буквально 2-3 секунды, после чего снаряд постепенно возвращается к свойствам обычной ртути и растекается.
Ртутные ружья применяются Содружеством в качестве лёгкого бронебойного оружия, способного легко пробивать лёгкую броню и оставлять тяжёлые раны в плоти. Это универсальное, но не дальнобойное оружие, что значительно ограничивает его применение и развитие.
